2022 Woodlands Brook Emily

Spring was cool and wet in 2022, causing yields to be down, but fortunately disease and bird pressure was low. The weather moderated over the rest of summer to provide perfect ripening conditions for reds.

2022 Woodlands Brook ‘Emily’ is a blend of 46% Cabernet Franc, 46% Merlot, 7% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has matured in 300L French barrels for 14 months, of which 45% were new.

The colour is an intense crimson. The nose shows violet, a deep range of blue fruits, and a touch of oak in great balance.

A rich entry gives way to a structured palate, showing ripe blue fruits, lingering violet, and drying tannin. There’s a powerful finish, with some wonderful balancing minerality.

This Emily is similar to 2019, but showing more structure. It can be enjoyed from 2025 but best if cellared for 5 years minimum.
